Description
The Global Enable state allows the user to disable the update of fault conditions and also fault counters (i.e. X of Y). The purpose of this state is to prevent faults from being updated when the system is in an unstable state. For instance, if a module on the network is being reprogrammed, the module will cease to send out communication messages which may cause faults to appear within the system even though the system itself is not failing.
The Global Enable is an optional feature and the OBD Fault Manager will continue to function even if this state is not present. If Global Enable is not present, then the OBD Fault Manager will always be enabled.
