PX Style Encoder

General Definition

This style of encoder utilizes pulse width to encode synchronization information. One pulse shall be wider than 50% of the tooth period whilst the remaining pulses are narrower than 50% of the pulsewidth. Only one of the edges will be equidistant about the wheel. The Crank Sync Polarity must be set to select this edge. Failure to synchronize and/or encoder errors will result if the incorrect edge is selected.

Synchronization

Synchronization occurs upon detection of the wide pulse. The pulsewidth will suffer from the error that is introduced by acceleration of the target wheel. Ensuring the widths are not too near the 50% threshold will ensure that this error does not lead to false synchronization.
