Description

This MotoHawk™ block reads the overrun status of the referenced Periodic Trigger Definition block.

The associated triggers will be called at the Trigger Interval (us) specified by the MotoHawk™ Periodic Trigger Definition block. An overrun status represents the condition where execution is such that a previously scheduled trigger hasn't completed its execution before another trigger has been scheduled to occur. The trigger is said to have suffered overrun, which is reflected by the overrun status port. If trigger execution is so delayed that multiple triggers have been scheduled before an earlier trigger has completed then the RTOS will discard the trigger instead of scheduling it. This situation is reflected by the discard status port, which indicates that the scheduler has either discarded a trigger since the last status was read, or is actively discarding triggers when the status was read.

Observing overrun or discard represent abnormal scheduling. Expected execution might be delayed (overrun) or not occurred at all (discard). This can occur when the execution time of the code associated with this trigger is longer than the defined Trigger Interval (us), or when other task(s) with higher priority have consumed the processor time.
