How do I get the latest version of MotoHawk?

The latest version of MotoHawk is available on MotoHawk.Info.

I am having trouble logging into www.motohawk.info

You may need to enable META REFRESH in internet explorer. Internet explorer/tools/internet options…/security/custom level/allow META REFRESH/enable

Using MotoHawk

What is MotoTron's experience with code generation efficiency?

Our experience is that the use of autocode for the application layer (control, diagnostics, communications) does not cost us anything in hardware (in MotoHawk). Our module designs have not changed as a result of autocode. Therefore, we are convinced that the tool inherently is efficient.

My module is not responding. What do I do?

Try using the Boot Key to reboot the module and re-insTall a known working program.

What are some tricks to edit Simulink models quickly and easily?

How do I place an image on a block?

How do I create a new project in MotoHawk easily?

How do I rename an existing MotoHawk Project?

How do I install multiple versions of MotoHawk and switch between them?

How do I install MotoHawk if I have two installations of the same version of MATLAB?

This non-typical situation needs manual intervention.

Can I put triggers within a triggered subsystem??

Why are there 3 separate fuel injector blocks?

There are three separate fuel injector blocks because there are three distinct purposes for each of them.

The simplest block (Injector Pulse Block) gives the user full control over both pulses that can be scheduled on a given pin.

The Injector Driver Block allows access to the Transient fueling behavior. It is a complex behavior provided by ControlCore that is not possible with the Injector Pulse Block.

The Injector Sequence Block is the most complex of all injection blocks. This block sets up different combinations of pulses based on a calibrateable mode setting and the firing order in the MotoHawk Encoder Definition Block.

For more details, consult the documentation for these blocks.

How do I enable the HCS12 MotoHawk targets?

Just type the following into the MATLAB command line:

>> motohawk_allow_hcs12 = 1
motohawk_allow_hcs12 =
1
>>

How do I know which blocks does the HCS12 MotoHawk target support?

I see variable <X> in MotoTune under the System folder. How can I access that variable from my MotoHawk application?

What consideration should be made for the S12-24 ECU EEPROM life expectancy

Each cell (byte) of EEPROM (silicon) on the S12/S12X has a nominal life expectancy of 100k writes. This is independent of any employed write algorithm. This, by the way, is a typical value for most EEPROM. The issue here is controlled shutdown.

Typically, modules with controlled shutdown shadow all EE to RAM. EE writes only occur at shutdown. EE corruption may still occur as power may be interrupted during the write. This chance is small, and if it does occur, typically the EEPROM is reset to “default values”

S12-24 modules do NOT have controlled shutdown. EE writes occur at runtime. Therefore corruption due to power loss during a write is probable. S12-24 employs a double buffering scheme such that if an uncontrolled shutdown occurs during a write, the last “good” value can be used (instead of the defaults). Most importantly, because EE writes on the SECM happen at runtime, you must be careful of the frequency at which you write to prevent cell failure. The application designer is responsible for determining this frequency based on expected product life expectancy.

Does MotoHawk CAN support RTR´s (remote request)?

The MPC5xx ControlCore already supports RTR, Remote Transfer Response for both request and acknowledge. However, the MotoHawk CAN blocks do not support RTR at this time. This can be done via an engineering project.

What J1939 support is available with MotoHawk?

All of the single frame broadcast PGN’s are available in the MotoHawk J1939 message definition, which is included with the tool.

As far as DM messages are concerned, J1939 defines about 20 messages of which MotoTron has completed just a couple. --Rich Swortzel 20:38, 24 April 2007 (EDT)

Does MotoHawk have a 802.11 Interface Solution

Not today. The best way to do it is to use a Lantronix Wibox or any serial server and use the RS232 port. http://www.lantronix.com/device-networking/external-device-servers/wibox.html
